Faversham Literary Festival

The lives of two east London teenage boys become fatally entwined in this assured debut addressing themes of the online 'targeting' and 'recruiting' of teenagers, masculinity and marginalisation, Britishness, and the pernicious pull of extremist politics. Darkly humorous and highly topical, this is an Observer Best Debut Novel 2024; and longlisted for the prestigious Gordon Burns Prize.

Festilitt

Created in 2013, Festilitt was born out of a desire to bring the French and English-speaking communities together around a shared love of reading and literature. It is held every year in mid-October in Parisot, a small village in the Quercy-Rouergue region, at the crossroads of Tarn-et-Garonne, Lot and Aveyron ... Debut novelist Nicolas Padamsee explores being young, male and influenced by far-right ideology.

Nicolas Padamsee – Edinburgh

Nicolas Padamsee's England is Mine is an explosive novel about one of Britain's most pressing issues: violent extremism amongst young men. Nicolas was named by one the Observer as one of 2024's most exciting debut novels – and with good reason. England is Mine is a rocket of a book: brimming with love, violence, sympathy, hate. It is a manifesto for empathy and cross-community understanding in a time of alarming polarisation.

If you love Moshin Hamid, Kamila Shamsie, Patricia Lockwood, or Hannah Bervoets, England is Mine is not to be missed. Don't believe us? Join Nicolas at the bookshop this Spring to hear all about it.
